Abstract

Abstract

Satisfaction of the patients from the undergoing treatment generates happiness in their mind and helps in rid off their disease and achieving the health. Ayurveda has a unique concept of Chatusa-Pada (quadruple of therapeutics) which considers pros and cons of the physician, the drug, the patient and the nurse for measuring the success of the treatment. But at present only one or two such factors are taken into consideration. Therefore it is necessary to prepare a new specific Performa which comprises of all the 16 qualities of Chatushpada mentioned in the texts and to validation it statistically so that the satisfaction measured by using it universally accepted.

For this purpose in this study a self-administered questionnaire (final version in Kannada language) consisting 42 items was prepared and for its validation it was administered to 176 inpatients in the tertiary hospital attached to Ayurveda College located in district of Southern Indian state. The responses were summarized and result was assessed. The results of this study showed that developed questionnaire yielded 42 items with Cronbach’s alpha significance at 0.92 from four domains (dimensions), six factors could be identified from factorial analysis. Hence, this questionnaire (in Kannada language, local dialect of Karnataka State, India) can be adopted to assess patient-satisfaction and experiences in Ayurveda teaching hospital. It may become a useful tool to assess quality of health care in Ayurveda hospital.
