Efficacy of Chopacini (Smilax glabra) in Management of Pyospermia (Puya-Retasa)
Chopchini powder was administered orally to the patients of pyospermia (Puya-retasa) for 45 days. It provided significant relief of 79.2% in symptoms. Semen analysis done before and after the treatment showed that it significantly reduced the amorphous matter in semen by 71.48%, viscosity by 63.77%, auto-agglutination by 54.85%, round cells by 51.66%, head abnormal sperms by 7.77% and abnormal sperms by 3.50%. Micro-organisms present in the semen were also cleared by the treatment
After the treatment one patient (12.5%) was able to conceive his partner. Amongst the others 37.5% patients showed complete remission and same number i.e. 37.5% patients were markedly improved and 12.5% patients showed mild improvement. One month follow up with placebo showed that the beneficial effects provided by the therapy were maintained with slight declining.
