A CLINICAL STUDY TO ASSESS THE EFFECT OF UCCHA RAKTACHAPAHARA YOGA IN PATIENTS OF ESSENTIAL HYPERTENSION (SVATANTRA UCCHA VYANA BALA)

Abstract


Essential hypertension is one such disease which is gaining worldwide attention due to its prevalence, morbidity, complications and silent nature. It is emerging as a major health problem in urban India due to changed lifestyle and dietary habits. Ayurvedic formulation comprises of hydro-alcoholic extract of seven drugs viz. Tagara, Vacha, Jatamansi, Shankhpuspi, Ashvagandha, Rasona and Gokshura was formulated. These drugs were selected due to their beneficial actions on the factors responsible for hypertension such as anxiety, dyslipidiemia etc. One month clinical trial was conducted with this Yoga on patients suffering from stage-1 hypertension and 61% patients of this series got excellent relief.
