EPIDEMIOLOGICAL STUDY OF JUNK FOOD HABIT AS A RISK FACTOR FOR GRAHANI DOSHA

Abstract

In the modern era of globalization, there has been a major shift in diet pattern, life styles and behavioral pattern that is not suitable for the normal physiology of digestion. There is a strong bond between the diet & disease as unwholesome diet is causative factor for disease and wholesome diet is promoting factor for health. WHO also observes that unhealthy diet is one of the key causes of the growing global burden of diseases. Change in diet to junk food which are low on nutrients and high on salt, sugar and fat are directly indicted to diseases and are considered responsible for rising cases of obesity and non communicable diseases (NCDs).

The disease Grahani is the effect of improper diets and habits. Now- a-days altered life style has much impact on the patho-physiology of Grahani Dosha. Junk food habit is one of the most important etiological factors in the pathogenesis of Grahani disease as evident from this survey study.
