CLINICAL STUDY ON THE EFFECTS OF MANDUKAPARNI (HYDROCOTYLE ASIATICA) ON IMMUNITY AND AGED

Abstract


A clinical study was carried out on 23 aged have some age related complaint and volunteers who were suffering frequently from seasonal diseases to evaluate the effect of mandukaparni (Hydrocotyle asiatica) on the immunoglobulins and symptoms of aged. The results of this study showed that Mandukaparni significantly reduces tachycardia and increases thus helps in improving the functions of both heart and lungs. It significantly improved the immediate memory and improved mental function as after the treatment did less mistake in performing same task in shorter period.

The drug provided significant relief in common complaints of the aged such as fatigue, insomnia, weakness, dyspnea on exertion, body-ache, knee pain and low-back pain and significantly improved their enthusiasm, ability to work and digestion.    

Mandukaparni significantly increased IgM and IgG, thus having immunity improving effect.
