Abstract

Till date drainage of abscess is known by Hilton’s method, though the original inventor and author of the technique is Acharya Sushruta, yet, the world especially Ayurvedic community failed to highlight this fact and honor the Legend by naming the technique as Sushruta’s Method. This article illustrates that the surgical method advocated by Sushruta for the drainage of abscess is the same method which is practiced in the name of Hilton’s method. Apart from the brilliant detailing of drainage of Abscess by invasive method, foremost description of a non invasive method for drainage of abscess is found in the Sushruta’s Treatise. Hilton’s contributions to field of surgery can never be ignored yet, at the same time, the original contributor to the technique of drainage of abscess should be honored by renaming the method as Sushruta’s Method.
