Experimental Study on Anti-inflammatory and Antioxidant Effects of Virechana on FA Treated Rats

Abstract


Panchakarma are very efficient measures for promotion and preservation of healthy persons and cure the many diseases, but scientists of the present era could not appreciate its potentiality due to unavailability of suitable experimental models. Therefore, this study was carried out to evaluate efficacy of Virechana Karma in RA induced arthritis. In this study classical procedure of Virechna Karma was followed which included oral administration of Sneha (Saindhavadi Taila) for four days, then sudation and followed by administration of Virechana Yoga comprises of Triphala Kvatha, EranadaTaila and Icchabhedi Rasa.   

The results of this study showed that Virechana Karma reduces the inflammation, helps in elevation of pro-antioxidant systems in the body and suppresses free radical generation mechanism.
