EFFICACY OF ASHVAGANDHA (WITHANIA SOMNIFERA) ON IMMUNITY OF KRISHA (UNDERWEIGHT)

Abstract

A group of 37 underweight patients suffering frequently from seasonal diseases was treated with Ashvagandha powder administered in the dose of 6 gm thrice a day for one month. The results of this study showed that Ashvagandha (Withania somnifera) significantly improves the physical strength, functions of the lungs and heart, immediate memory and increases the weight of the underweight patients.

It significantly increased the immunity of the persons as evident from significant increased caused in serum IgA, IgG and IgM. Thus it can be recommended for the prevention of seasonal diseases of the patients who frequently suffers from them due to the low immunity.
