Abstract

On the basis of a shaloka given by Sushruta that all unmanaged Premeha turns into Madhumeha, it is advocated that 20 types of Prameha are the pre-diabetic conditions. But perusal of the literature showed that Ayurveda clinically divides whole renal disorders into two groups; one where scanty urine occurs and other where excessive urine is the main characteristic. Analysis of each variety of 20 types of Prameha showed that 20 types of Prameha are independent 20 renal disorders where common characteristic is passing excessive urine.
